Tax Settings

The Tax Settings page allows you to manage your church's tax identification information, which is essential for donor statements and tax compliance.

Accessing Tax Settings

Tax Settings is accessible from the sidebar under the Admin section.

EIN / Tax ID Configuration

Your church's Employer Identification Number (EIN) is the primary tax identifier and appears on all donor tax statements generated for your donors.

Entering Your EIN

1. Navigate to Tax Settings
2. Click Update if an EIN is already on file, or begin entering directly if not
3. Enter your EIN in the format XX-XXXXXXX (e.g., 12-3456789)
4. Click Save to store your EIN

The system automatically formats your input as you type. Only numeric digits are accepted.

EIN Display and Privacy

• Your EIN is displayed in masked format on this page for security (e.g., 12-****789)
• The full EIN is encrypted and stored securely in the database
• Only authorized financial and administrative staff can access the unmasked value
• The full EIN is visible to donors only on their tax statements

Updating Your EIN

If your EIN changes, click Update and enter the new value. The system will validate the format before saving.

Removing Your EIN

To remove your EIN from the system, click Remove after updating it. Donor statements will not include a tax ID if none is on file.

Tax Statements

Your EIN appears on all donor tax statements generated from the Church Management app. These statements are typically generated annually and provided to donors for tax reporting purposes.

Required for donor statement compliance: If your church issues tax statements to donors, you must have a valid EIN on file.

Security and Encryption

• EIN data is encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption
• Access is logged for audit purposes
• Only finance administrators can manage tax settings
• The EIN is never transmitted in plain text

Shared Tax Settings Library

The Tax Settings page uses the shared @1st-flock/tax-settings library, ensuring consistent tax information management across all 1st Flock apps.
